Moraira

The delightful town of Moraira is situated in a bay on the Northern Costa Blanca Coast between the resorts of Javea and Calpe. It is approximately 50 miles North of Alicante and 70 miles South of Valencia Airports.

Moraira was originally a fishing village within the municipality of Teulada and has grown into a charming holiday resort that has managed to retain much of its original character and atmosphere. The harbour has developed into a large marina and most days there is a very active Fish market, and a wonderful street market every Friday. There is a large variety of shops and restaurants.

One thing that will not be found in Moraira are the skyscraper hotels of the larger cities of Spain.

With its Blue Flag beaches, craggy cliffs and isolated coves, the surrounding area provides some of the most spectacular views in Spain and this area has one of the best climates in the world for sun-seeking holiday makers. Around the Moraira area there are some lovely safe beaches.

For those who hire a car travelling inland is well worthwhile. Follow Mountain passes through the Jalon Valley and visit the busier resorts of Benidorm and Altea. The Jalon Valley consists of narrow roads passing through agricultural countryside laced with almond, orange and lemon groves. There are vineyards where you can taste (and purchase) the local wines.
